New Year New Walls

New Year, New Walls.

Despite the impending cold snap (actual winter really?!) looming and the inclement weather we’ve been experiencing many artists and painters have been out creating new works in the start of 2016. I for one love to see walls getting a spring clean and new pieces popping up all over, a few of which you can see in this post.

Jim Vision is one of those who’s been out flexing his painty fingers and has created 2 new pieces in the past week.

You’ll have seen his Save the Bees murals with Louis Masai and other works featuring beautiful waves demonstrating the mighty force of the sea (Rhoda Street, E2, & in Tahiti), fantastical works where a formidable Goddess of the Sea flings her worst at a flaming island in Teufelsberg for Berlin Rising, but these new walls demonstrate ever more the keen humanitarian and environmentalist that Jim is.  Illustrating an awareness of the plight of many indigenous races and a harking back to years gone by, the first wall features Native Americans waiting on the shore has Jim’s boat piece from last year shows through from behind and heads for the shore.

The second wall, with a slightly stronger and more incendiary vibe, features a warrior seated on his galloping horse holding aloft a flaming stars & stripes flag, while an old style oil pump burns in the background.  Could this be a comment on the ravaging of natural resources and the displacement of indigenous peoples that many countries have experienced? We are all well aware that oil war is a constant one, and until the natural sources are completely depleted and run dry we will have this ongoing battle by governments, corporations and countries to sway the market in their favour and to control the supply.

Who knows what’s next from the man but we’ll keep you updated as they appear.  Keep an eye on his day to day movements here:

Our favourite graffiti don and the legend loved by all the ladies Mister Tizer, painting here with Team from Paris. And he painted 6 pieces in 6 days at the start of the year!

Last wall of 2015 from Nychos

Not one but Two New walls from Astro Odv CBS. The first is a mind bending optical illusion style wall in Quinta Do Mocho, Lisboa. The 2nd a New year piece with his classic lettering and colour scheme saying 2016.
