New Year New Walls

New Year, New Walls.

Despite the impending cold snap (actual winter really?!) looming and the inclement weather we’ve been experiencing many artists and painters have been out creating new works in the start of 2016. I for one love to see walls getting a spring clean and new pieces popping up all over, a few of which you can see in this post.

Jim Vision in New York

Following on from our last blog post on Jim Vision in LA, here we’ve got photos from his time in New York. Jim’s been travelling through these cities painting site specific murals for a large scale commission which we can’t quite reveal yet – Again we’ve seen some awesome graffiti along the way in a city where the urban art scene is thriving – especially in Brooklyn where we were based. We’ve painted some walls and met loads of interesting people including the guys at the Bushwick Collective.

Check out this awesome piece below featuring Nychos, Buff Monster, The Yok, Tristan Eaton and Lamour. Great to see the collaborative mural by Nychos and Smitheone as well, who’s styles work together in a deconstructive mind mash of unravelling creatures. The Yok’s signature colour palette of black, reds and white looks awesome too, as well as Case’s (Ma’Claim Crew) hyper realistic rainbow hands. Check out Jim’s galactic horse scene nestled between the Brooklyn art, and his monochrome portraits standing out tall against a back drop of New York City. Ahhh. We’ve got some great footage of the trip to show you, all will be revealed soon. Until then, Jim is painting a wall in a secret East London location which might soon become very familiar to us…

Nychos: Rabbit Eye Movement studio interview

Nychos ‘the weird’ is a super talented illustrator and graffiti artist hailing from Vienna. In 2005 he founded ‘Rabbit Eye Movement’ (REM) which aims to be a street art concept – the concept being to bring together and keep alive the ‘rabbits’ amongst us.

“I always saw the Rabbit Eye Movement as an Homage to all the “Rabbits” out there being active in the Urban art Movement doesn’t matter what kind of Mission they are following.”

The movement has grown significantly within the street art world, and has now expanded to establish the REM ARTSPACE in Berlin. The art space supports both national and international artists from a range of genres including graffiti, urban illustration, street art, lowbrow and pop culture imagery.
